Ask questions that get specific answers.

A polished page cannot tell you everything about a breeding program. Use your conversation to move from general claims to the actual dogs and the actual placement.

01

Start with the parents.

Ask for the sire and dam’s registered names, temperament and everyday behavior. Ask why that pairing was chosen and what the breeder hopes to produce.

02

Describe your household clearly.

Explain your experience, routine, children, other animals, and intended role for the dog. Ask how the breeder will help you choose an individual puppy.

03

Put the financial details on paper.

Clarify the total price, deposit, refund or transfer terms, balance deadline, optional charges, registration restrictions, and breeding rights. Make sure the invoice and agreement describe the arrangement you discussed.

04

Read what the guarantee actually says.

Ask about coverage, exclusions, required records, deadlines, and the remedy. A phrase such as “health guarantee” is only a starting point.

05

Talk about life after pickup.

Ask how to reach the breeder with questions and what information to provide if a health concern arises.

Start with our process and individual dog profiles, then ask me about the litter you are considering.
